David Haybron

Welcome to the website of David Haybron.  Since 2001, Dr. Haybron has practiced cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. David HaybronA graduate of the University of Hawaii with a Master of Science in Biochemistry, David Haybron went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine in 1988. Dr. Haybron subsequently took a residency position in general surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles’ Department of Surgery, where he eventually became Chief Resident, before returning to Ohio State for a residency in thoracic surgery. During the course of his academic career, Dr. Haybron held several postgraduate appointments. Dr. Haybron served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at both the University of Hawaii’s Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics and in the Department of Anatomy at Ohio State. He also completed a research fellowship through UCLA’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

After completing his residencies, Dr. David Haybron became a shareholder and Managing Partner at Missouri Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons in Columbia, Missouri. He left the company in 2000 to accept a Clinical Associate position with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In 2001, Dr. Haybron accepted a role as a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at West Penn Allegheny Health Systems in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a position he held for the next 10 years.

Dr. David Haybron belongs to a variety of professional organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Heart Association’s Council on Cardiovascular Surgery and Anesthesia, the William P. Longmire Surgical Society, and the Zollinger Surgical Society. As a researcher, Dr. Haybron has co-written numerous papers published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Archives of Surgery, the Journal of Surgical Research, and the American Journal of Surgery.
